New car help me choose

Post by Rumbl1n » Wed Jul 18, 2012 5:01 pm

Ok guys I'm looking at buying a daily driver and these are my two options don't know which to choose!

1989 Subaru legacy gt turbo
140,000
Slight hail damage
Automatic
$2900 or nearest offer

1994 Subaru impezer wagon non turbo
350,000
Straight body
Manual
$2700 Ono

Both mechanically sound

Would prefer a manual but even tho the legacy is older it seems like a really good buy to me and 350,000 is pushing it I think what do you guys think (both have good tyres this standard wheel)

a tough one. 350,000 is a lot of ks on any motorcar. however having a turbo means you must use premium.
if it were me i would go the liberty, the subi 4sp are very good and the best 4sp i have driven, it has less ks and will be more fun and look better...

Definitely the Impreza - I wouldn't buy a Jap Import Legacy, expecially in auto :(
Especially not for that much money - I just paid $2000 for an 1993 aussie delivered RS Wagon so there are always good buys out there if you can wait.

If your budget can be stretched there is always this wagon : http://www.rslibertyclub.org/forums/sho ... y-RS-Wagon

And I just checked and that Legacy is sold - TO ME :)

Yeah very nice but probably way over budget if he is looking at $3k cars.

And I haven't really bought the wagon he posted - I was just trying to wind him up.

Looks like an OK buy but with the hail damage and other little things wrong I don't think it is worth any more than $2k but would still buy it over the Impreza.

Yeah, But as a daily i wouldn't. Only reason is you will need to run 98 in it and a full tank will give u 400 or less if your lucky. The idea of a daily is so you can save for your project car. So if you buy something that gonna drink quite a bit of fuel, Make you want to mod it and go faster, attract cops and yellow stickers, all that isn't the point of a cheap daily driver i think.
Thats why i bought my impreza and sold the vortex. As a second conversion as a daily isn't what i wanted. The Impreza is cool cause its really cheap to run, doesn't attrack attention, plenty of boot space, can still take it off road, etc etc.
I think for a daily, the impreza would be better. But if i had to choose if it wasn't for a daily car id take the legacy. only thing is its auto:(

Let me know if you do decide to sell - would be ideal for me as my missus is useless and can't drive manuals.......

Just start painting random items on the vehicle yellow, red and black, that'll turn him away quick enough  It's worked for one forum member already
