My right rear wheel bearing failed we had to drive about 40km with a nonexistent bearing, Not good it was 2nd gear all the way we cooled it down a couple of times and the creek crossings helped.
By the time we got to a place that had a land line (no mobile service) to ring RACQ she was cooking with metal filings around the wheel and the tyre starting to melt on the side wall.
Yes not the best time i have had but with the help of club members i got home even tho it wasn't in my Liberty.
This is why it's always good to join a club you wont get left anywhere:D
It's siting out the front of my place now saying got you again:twisted:
I would like to thank everybody for staying with me
Jan
Oh PS i didn't tell you that the gear stick decided to pop out of the ball joint for a minute i thought it was internal problem. Then i would have to leave the car there till i got another gearbox and hub.

Looks like you guys still had a load of fun even with the change of route that I've read about (in a thread that got a bit heated for a while!). Some good looking water crossings in there, love the look of the last one!
Jan, probably time to whip out all the bearings, slap some new ones in and pack some fresh grease into the CVs. Better also pack a spare gearbox for your trip down south - I know what your track record is like with these things, should I be arranging a spare??
Glad you got home in the end - to me it doesn't matter whether you're in a club or not, those you wheel with should be there to help out no matter what... At least I know I am for others
Keep up the good work fellas (and ladies!).
Cheers
Bennie

Lol your right about the gearboxes but the liberty will not be coming on the Victoria trip:( i want a lot more comfort and power.
My GT Forester will emerge very soon from it's written off state to a very capable Subaru offroader;) and no more manual box i'm over them.
