Hey guys I have done a bit or searching with no luck in just over a month I am planing on doing an eh conversion to my brumby I don't want to hack the chassi rails but I want something more powerfull than an ej20 my thoughts are getting an 96 wrx ej20g removing the turbo and supercharging it but 1 I am not sure how a turbo motor will run with a supercharger and 2 I am not sure if this motor will fit between the chassi any help would be greatly appreciated and any better suggestions would be great (I realize this is an expensive projects I am willing to put the money into it)

EJ20g is a twin/quad cam motor, it would need the chassis rails and the crossmember to be modified for it to go in.

look at this thread started by Subarino in 2007, he used an EJ22 but a single cam EJ25 would work as well.

showthread.php?t=7699&highlight=supercharger

the car is still running and now owned by 90brumby.

good luck with it :)

Get an ej20 and supercharge that. It will handle about 12psi of boost but upto 10psi safely.

That's what I'm doing to my forester!

Why would you take a perfectly good well designed turbo off an engine it was designed for and spend god knows what trying to squeeze a frigging supercharger in an engine bay the size of a matchbox, if you want better early response put a twin scroll set up on it.

12lb of boost through a stock high compression 2L..........I'd like to see that last more than a week, even the early low compression EJ20's were limited to about 12lb

Here is an STi EJ20 in a Brumby, standard height

Note the treatment from a power pack or BFH ? No cutting, no welding - just a massage :D

i put one in without modifying the rails. the timing covers touched both rails, but never had any damage in the 20odd thousand kms it was driven hard

What engine mounts were you using devil? Normal "square" ones or "group N" ones?

hi guys. i'm new to this but i am interested in doing a similar conversion... i'm not much of a mechanic, i'd rather find the parts and pay someone to fit it for me...

i have a 1987 Brumby with a 4 speed manual. i have heard that an impreza motor will fit straight in(wiring required obviously) what year model would i be looking for or what engine?

also will the 5 speed gearbox for that motor fit in without any mods?

any help would be appreciated..

thanks

Hi Dean, there is a shipload of info on this if you look by search, set the date parameters to any date and try all sorts of key words. You will need to set aside some time to read and absorb it all to make your decision.

Fit straight in is a little white lie :D

For what its worth, there is nearly always a turbo brumby on ebay or gumtree. Just buy one that is 90% complete and finish it. Will be cheaper in the long run if you are gonna pay a mechanic to do it.

I never should have cut the rails. Luckily the engineer passed it.
