Ahh well, feel for you mate - Motorsport is a hard mistress, even more so for endurance events. From what I have seen buggered shocks is one of the more common failures in these sorts of events, they just get hammered with no chance to cool down.
I am sure you will already be thinking what to do to sort it for next year and your wife/partner/bank manager will be thinking how much it will cost - lol
Awesome effort, and sorry to read you had issues.

good luck in future events, looking forward to seeing the beast again next year.
We must have backed off by then I think. Had the 2 Pajeros passed us?
It was good to meet you and I hope to see you there next year. Better get that Brumby lift-kitted and 5-studded!
subybrumby wrote:Great effort...The car is obviously a serious contender and I'm sure next year will be quite a different story. Well done!!!
Thanks mate.

Thanks again for all your help Andie. You make other parts interpreters look very ordinary.
And anyone else that needs genuine parts and wants to deal with someone who knows their Subies....

No doubt about it. In all the desert races that I've DNFed, it's aways been suspension failure. I hope I've finally learned my lesson!

I dont know what to say other than feel for ya . What a major bummer. I have followed the thread from the time i found the site. As i dont know anything about the type of racing you are doing , there isnt much i can say or help with. The cars we are doing only have to deal with every day driving . Not the punishment your brumby goes through.
All the best with the upgrade and the next comp.

What a buzz. Nothing like putting a motor togther the night before a major race. We had a great time at Finke, the rain, the cold, the tension, the mud, and all those cars. I am so glad we mad it out there to enjoy it. Thanks.

I'm looking forward to next years race.

Thats a great effort especially considering the shocks were the only things that realy let you down the trailing arms probably failed because of them. Untill now I've wondered why motorcross bikes have that external cartridge for the rear shock but it must be for cooling, This could be food for thought though.

The shocks are remote canister jobs.
Hope I can get back out there next year to be crewing again.

These are the rear shocks I am running this year. The shock on the left is a genuine RX Turbo rear.
