And does he win the million dollars.. Not quite sure yet. ....

At the moment the color burple ( half way between blue and purple ) is being tossed about. More than likely be 2 tone .I just have to wait till a color is decided on ,to work out the 2nd tone color .

Here are some pics as promised.

No we haven't started on it yet. Giving it the once and twice over to get everything right in our head that we are going to do. Also getting the parts together and cleaning them up so when we start , things will just be able to be bolted on.
The other reason we haven't quite started yet is , the girl that the car was brought for hasn't hoped out of it long enough to be able to do anything.. It is in the shed and she sits in it thinking of what it will be like when it is finnished and she has her license.

Can't wait to see what you come up with for this car, I know it will look as good as all the others you have done.
How much of a say as to what is done to the car are you giving her?
Maybe you will need some kind of a distraction to get her out long enough so you can make a start.
Anyway hope it all go's well, and keep the pic's coming.
Rik.

She gets a fair bit of say , Eg : color to a point , cd player and general items. As for the mechanical side of things, well that is up to us blokes. We wish to make it capable, not only look good.

If its only going to be used for pottering around the city then the EA81 auto isnt that bad of a combo but if you are going to 4WD it then an EJ should be the way to go.

Doing an ej swap in has crossed my mind many a time. I have thought about it for mine and a project . We have one problem with doing it though. We do all of these resto's on less than a shoe string budget. To get hold of a ej front cut is way, way, way out of our limit.

At the moment i am trying to get hold of another wagon, Just trying to get the $$$$ up for it .

It not the dollar amount that affects us, It is the % out of our income. Eg : $100 out of some ones income could be say,, 1/10 , out of mine it is 1/4. If that is understandable.

Thank you

I would like to thank every one who has taken the time to post on this tread. The input/ ideas and positive inputs are much appreciated. It helps us pushing forward. As we are on low incomes , sometimes we think if it is worth it to keep going. We love the old M.Y. , so with both the love of subaru and your feed back , it keeps us pushing on.

THANKS TO ALL AGAIN

Thats cool. The beauty of old subies is that they can be cheap motoring. My silver Brumby owes me $1650 as it stands and I've got an SVX motor for it that cost me $800.
It's just hard to justify the time to do it as a hobby when I should be making money.

Totally understandable and your work is commendable, like all of us you do what your budget dictates possible. The MY series is a great small car and almost bullet proof, keep up the great work.

Fair effort fellas!

On that shoestring budget maybe you could get a fleet of blue MY's and rent them out if your in a touristie sorta town... I've seen this done with the mini moke in Airlie beach, I've never seen so many mokes in one town (they're all different colours, i saw 5 in 3 minutes in one place!)...

Just a thought.

Good work, keep it up. If you don't want that dash and surround feel free to send it down my way, i'll "dispose" of it safely...

Cheers

Bennie
