Roof Console, Subie Boys , M.Y. wagon & Brumby

Post by rtcb65 » Wed Jul 08, 2009 5:19 pm

I have decided to make a thread for this so it dont bog down the other thread.
We now have made a mold for them instead of just making them off the cast like the first one .

And i just put this pics in to show what the finished product can look like. One of the pics from the other thread so you dont have to jump back and forth to get the idea. This one is only of the cast , not out of the mold.

What holds it up are the original bolt and screws. The mirror bolt and the 2 screws in the interior light.

Not totally sure yet. If the gap between the mirror and light are the same as the wagon, it will be the same . We made them for the wagon to start with , but are going to find out the difference and adapt to fit the brumby. Should know in next couple of days what the diiference is , and if there is a difference , we will have the adaption done.

How much for one of those roof consoles approx?

If we make to sell, depending on what it is for , eg : wagon or brumby, we need to ajust the mold as different roof shapes, all so how someone wonts it eg: blank or fitted out, Blank we were thinking of about $50 .

We have been asked to make one for an L series. We are looking into it . I will post on here once we work it out.

Once we work out the difference and adapt to suit a brumby ( different roof lining shape and not sure on distance between mirror and light ) , i will post on here and post a pic so everyone can see how they look , then we can take orders once you like what it looks like.

Hey Tarz, the double din stereo in the pic would be the one Ros blew up the other day... lol

It's a Kenwood full logic digital tape, CD and radio unit, and it's probably just a blown fuse. Won't know until I pop it's lid and have a quick squiz at its insides. They chucked it my way, but since I've got straight MP3 head unit in my car (no CD, just card slots), if it's still ok it will probably get installed into my caravan.

There should be more available soon I'm guessing.
Steve.

Were you boys bored?! That looks awesome and has me thinking about getting a mate to knock one up for my L

The only criticism I have of it (*ducks for cover*) is that I reckon the map lights need to be further forward... My thoughts anyway ;)

As always, keep up the good work fellas!

Cheers

Hey Bennie,

No need to duck for cover, you are 100% right on the mark. We used the map lights for the first time tonight, and the light pointed to my shoulder . But if we sell them , they will be blanks and people can put what they wont in them .

Before you pull them out try spinning the unit around 180 degrees, it may throw the light forward rather than back. I have a set of these installed in my base model L when I upgraded the wiring to MPFI (I also have the touring tacho dash - much better looking than the 3 guage dash).

I guess its all about playing around really!

Cheers

If steve turns up monday, we should have the mold finished . Needs the gel coat . Then we should be able to pour a console to what adjustments needed for a brumby. Then it shouldnt be to far off , being able to produce then for who ever wonts one.
