Hey Chris, I won't describe the look my wife just gave the computer screen when she read your post just now... I will say though, good thing you weren't here for it.

Hey Andrew T, The engine is a Ej 22 followed by a L series d/r center diff lock 5 speed ( the L series RX box i believe they come out of ) and at the end, when we find on, a clutch pack lsd.

We have been shopping today, ( if ya wish to call it that) , lol. Picked up a set of L series rear disks .

They seem to be in good nic, all you can see that dont look nice , is cosmetic. It will be cleaned up. I will get the disk rotors microed to see if there is enough to machine . It is always better to machine disks and put new pads on. That way they can bed together.

Geez, you guys are pulling some tricks now arn't you?! Good find on the discs, I pieced mine together - lack of funds and a lack of tools when I found a complete set...

I didn't bother micro'n or machining my discs, I whacked the rusty ones on, went for a drive and made sure I applied the brakes firmly from speed afew times, they're all good now and have never had a problem with them. I love the bite (brake grip/performance) they give when you use them a little bit more than you would with normal driving, that's where I really feel the difference.

Cheers

Hey Bennie, thanks for the comment about the tricks. Steve's talent helps. We come up with idea's , the hard part is to make it reality.

Its Thursday so Steve has been playing again.

Around the wheel well there is a raised area so all the water and all the other stuff that finds itself in a ute tray can be funneled away from going into the well.

Image

The base of the well all made up including drainage help so any water can find its way under the tire and drop out the drain hole.

Image

The well base sitting in place. Bottom view.

Image

And the top view. Just the side pieces to be made up and it can go in.

The sec i saw it sitting there, that is the first thing that went through my mind as well. So we checked the tail shaft future position and it will clear. With the 2 to 3 inch lift ( depending on the final decision ) it gives plenty of room . In theory. Yet to check in practice.

Steve, again you guys have gone above and beyond what I had pictured in my head. That is exactly what I had in mind, just with a heap of extra bling! That is some serious Gympie Pimping if i have ever seen it! Very very happy with that work!

Cheers

Oh, about the tailshaft concern...

With the 2 inch lift this car has, there is actually still more clearance between the tailshaft and the spare wheel well than there was between the tailshaft and the tunnel originally.

And... Yes, it's all hammered out of sheet (as always)...
Steve.

maybe you guys should relocate the battery next to that spare wheel well and eliminate that troublesome battery tray dent that is too close to big front wheels. beautiful work you guys do btw!

Hey 32ford,

Your suggestion is half right. The battery tray is removed and a new one is going to be made to suit the other side. As were it was , is where the air fillter is going. Beside the wheel well , there is to be a box made to take a back up/accessory battery . IF we can make it fit.
