Hi all,

I joined this forum as i have just aquired a Subaru Liberty (1999 BH?) wagon.

I am currently working on a mine site near Kalgoorlie that has 10km of dirt access road. I jumped on this liberty when my gran in law was selling it cheap. I will be using it for a work hack as the access road varies from a glass like finish to a mud swamp or a corrugated chewed out rock hard mess of dry clay gravel and rocks depending on the weather (and the grader driver).

I used to own a 1993 LX wagon and loved the car, it went EVERYWHERE and never missed a beat. I used to love bumping into 4WD clubs and dropping the suspension as they go past. It started to have "issues" at about 400K and was confiscated by the mechanic father-inlaw 4 years ago due to "car abuse" this coming from a man that has driven a combi over the dunes at Lancelin (WA). Some new suspension, steering and a catylitic converter and the car is still going...

Having a Subaru again make you appretiate how good they are.

Cheers
George

Hi George & welcome, you'd really need an Outback set up to run that size tyre without huge rubbing issues.

Nothing wrong with driving unusual cars in the dunes at Lanno........My sig.

Hi all I am not sure how much modifying I am going to do as I want to keep the car as cheap as possible as the costant driving on the dirt access road tends to dismantle cars, not to mention the salt on the road. It is sprayed with salt water to keep the dust down. :(

Cheers

Hi and Welcome George :)

What part of Kal are you in? I used to live in Moran St Boulder and went to SKPS and EGSHS but this was quite a few moons ago

Plenty of good info on this site and love to see pics of your BH wagon. Is it 2.0 or 2.5 litre engine? Does it have any goodies like front bulbar or the likes?

Cheers,
Paul
