Hi all from the UK

Post by Scoobypete » Sat Dec 21, 2013 2:28 am

Evening all.

Thought i would just introduce me and my scoobs before i start working my way around the board, came across this site through a friend who is already a member on here.

My name is pete,i have had old subarus pretty much all through my life amongst others,my current fleet currently stands like this:

1978 1600 GL coupe, bought about ten years ago after having been stored for ten years previous its been stripped down and all the neccesary work completed, all its awaiting now is a new coat of paint and refitting ready for the road.

1978 1600 DL Wagon,i imported this from australia two years ago now after it being top of my scooby wish list from an early age,had it shipped home after winning it for a small amount on ebay it arrived here needing a complete engine stripdown and rebuild due to failed headgaskets and welding to floors, its currently off road for the winter and will be getting an ea81 engine and box transplant in the new year as the original ea71 is very tired.

1984 GLF 1800 Hatchback,I bought this a few years ago now after being obsessed with the one on cannonball run driven by jackie chan when i was a child,i ran it as a daily for a year till it fell apart then gave it a complete overhaul and it is now a fitting replica to the same one mentioned above and not to mention my pride and joy, again currently off the road undercover for the winter.

1985 GLF 1800 hatchback, this one was bought last year as an impulse buy on ebay however on arrival to pick it up it has suffered a lot more tinworm than we thought so its currently sat down the barn with the others until i decide what to do with it.

Will add pics for you all as soon as im not at work ;)

Cheers :D

Don't think you will cure your ills by coming in here, sounds like the disease is too far gone in your system - incurable and terminal :P

Hello & welcome, that's a great collection of Subies. I really like those hatchback models. Probably because everyone always wants what they can't have. I always remember that one from the Cannonball movie. I watched that over & over when I was a kid.

Cheers Jake

Probably the only car in the UK with ACT plates.

I really like the hatch!

I was thinking those older 70's subarus are very hard to find even over here - only to find out then remember hearing that someone imported one to the UK.

Glad you found the forum! I'll be keen to watch a build thread when you get one started ;) Make sure you drop a link in here for us!

Cheers

That's the 2nd person who's asked if I'm Giles mate,I must read up what he's been saying about me

I got the wagon up together and used it as a daily thru last summer,it got put away for the winter but won't be long before it's back up here again as I've got an ea81 sat here waiting to go in it :)

Will look up the hatch rebuild thread for y'all

Not sure if I want to repeat his words.. lol.. just kidding :)

I was just wondering because I've been shown pics of that wagon by Giles before. I think it was for sale at one stage?
