Gday with some newer roads opened up north of Perth I'm thinking of getting a 4wd to drive along some of the beaches to go surfing. I've narrowed my choice down to a Liberty, which I think should do the trick. I found this forum while looking for info about Liberty's. I've only ever owned Commodore wagons, so I've joined up here to learn a bit before I make the change!

How's it going Mainbreak. I'm from Geraldton up here north of Perth. if your looking for a Subie to hit the beach you should be looking at a Forester or Outback. The Liberty won't have enough clearance. My foz lives on the beaches up here and goes well, even better with the lift kit now. Feel Free to fire some more questions.
Regards
Taza

Oh but it can

Check out Venom's H6 LIBERTY - 2 inch body lift, larger tyres, just needs a low range and it will be an awesome offroader!
Welcome to the fun of subi's!
Cheers

But guys thats if you are into modding a Subie. If you just want one stock then a Foz or Outback. Then if you want to be different mod and customize it the way you want

I woke up this morning and noticed the forum has been redesigned. Looking good guys!!!
Regards,
Taza

any subaru can be lifted it just depends on how much you want to spend doing it Just ask Guy or me

even the early libertys go well off road they are just a bit heavier that the other subies

				hey mate welcome.
defiantely look at a forester or outback if youre not into modding your car to get it to perform. A foz or an outback will perform strait out of the box, a liberty requires abit of lifting for it to perform.
BTW, boys, bottom left corner of any page you can change the skin of the forum.

Thanks Guys. If a Forester of Outback came up at a good price I'd look at one of them, a guy I know has a Forester and he's not that impressed with the fuel economy, I'm also happy to do some modding to a Liberty as well.
I'm off to the Subaru chat section with a few questions.

Hi mainbreak.. if it's new you're after (just thinking that's the reason you'd go to Subaru) then I'd look at getting a Forester.. maybe even look towards the diesel model if you are concerned with economy. Subaru tend to use more fuel than the average 4cyl due to driving all 4 wheels. Which is one of the reasons they have the 5 star rating for safety.
If you're looking to buy secondhand then I'd look at an Forester after and including the 2003 model, as these have the very pocky (and not bad economy) 2.5ltr engine. The 2000 onwards Outback use the same engine but are a slightly heavier car and built more for a family getaway then the very popular with the surfers Forester

I'm a big fan of both models but it really comes down to personal needs and likes. Please leet us know what you end up buying.. and pics are a must

Cheers,
Paul
