New Members - Please read!

Post by Outback bloke » Wed Nov 19, 2008 10:58 pm

This forum is run for the benefit of Subaru owners and enthusiasts like yourself. Please take the time to read the following and note that these guidelines will be enforced.

The reading of the following is compulsory. Continuing with your membership past this point shows you agree to abide by the rules.

All incidences breaching the following rules will be dealt with by moderators or administration and consequences will be issued accordingly.

a. Repeated and continued arguing with Management Team members after having received due deliberation, negotiation or explanation will lead to further action as deemed suitable by the Management Team. Such action may include temporary suspension or permanent banning.

b. Members who feel they have been unfairly warned or acted against are welcome to contact Site Administration directly, e.g. if warned by a moderator you should contact the Administration. If admin feel you were treated unfairly they may remove a warning. Their decision is final.

c. Any attempt to circumvent a temporary ban will lead to that ban being made permanent. Circumvention includes re-registering under a non-banned username, changing IP addresses to evade an IP ban, registering a new email account to evade an email ban. Circumvention includes posting as an anonymous user.

d. Members posting spam, insulting, indecent, inappropriate or vulgar material may be subject to an immediate permanent ban at the discretion of Administration.

e. Permanent bans are a last resort and thought is given before implementation. While admin may consider lifting permanent bans from time to time this is a very rare occurrence.

Forum Rules

- The Management Team reserves the right to edit or remove any post at any time. The determination of what is construed as inappropriate, indecent, vulgar, spam, contrary to forum rules and guidelines etc. as noted in these points is up to Management Team and not members. The Management Team will endeavor to PM members explaining any editing or removal of posts but requests that members acknowledge that this is not always possible.

- Messages : PM's from members that are abusive or inflammatory following the removal or editing of a post will not be tolerated and may lead to suspension or banning.

- Language: there is no excuse for using what is clearly inappropriate language. Do not deliberately miss-spell words to avoid censorship by the automatic language filter.

- All messages express the views of the author, and The Management Team will not be responsible for the content of any message.

- Members should post in a way that is respectful of other members. Flaming or abusing members in any way will not be tolerated.

- Whilst we have an off topic section we request that members avoid discussion of issues including but not limited to:
  • Religion
  • Terrorism
  • Gun Control
  • Toyotas
  • Politics
  • Gay rights
We understand that these are important issues, but this forum is set up for the benefit of Subaru-ing in Australia and as such admin could not be bothered moderating heated debate on these touchy subjects. Discuss them if you must but don't start complaining to us if it doesn't turnout how you expected.

- Members should remember this board is accessible to a public audience. Posting any matter that portrays 4wding or motoring in a bad or illegal light, posting pornographic pictures, and generally offensive text, images, links, etc. will not be tolerated.

- Restarting￾ a locked thread is not permitted.

- Members are asked to respect the copyright of other members, sites, media, etc. Members linking to or posting material in violation of copyright and privacy laws will receive a warning and their post will be removed.

- Members should post in a way which is consistent with "normal writing". That is members should refrain from using excessive numbers of emoticons, large, small or coloured text, excessive SMS or MSN abbreviations etc. Similarly members should not SHOUT or use excessive punctuation (e.g. ! and ?) in topic titles or posts. Members consistently abusing this will be warned.

- Unsolicited advertisements by retail outlets or of non-AUSubaru endorsed businesses and websites are not permitted. Likewise, non-genuine classifieds advertisements (as determined by the Management Team) are not permitted. Any such posts will be deleted.

- The above forum rules where applicable also apply to private messaging. Abuse of the private messaging system may lead to warnings (as above) and/or the revocation of the private messaging privilege.

Avatars & Signatures

Members are permitted to utilize a gallery avatar or to link to one of their own (subject to previous points on misuse of bandwidth).

- Avatars are subject to the same conditions as posts with respect to decency, and so forth.

- Signatures are welcome on our forum. We do ask that you make the effort to keep the file size as small as possible.

- Members found abusing these rules will be warned and/or may lose their avatar and signature privileges ...

Search Feature
New members please note, that while you have just found this great new site that will tell you exactly what you want to know, that there has been a lot of people before you most likely wanting to know the same thing.

While the more senior and knowledgeable members here are happy to help you out, they do not like repeating some thing that may have been asked just last week.

The link for searching the forums can be found in the nav bar at the top of each page just to the right of the banners. It can also be found here.

Tech Manual
Our members have over the years been slowly putting together a dedicated Subaru online workshop manual. If you can't find what you want in the search feature you may find it in the Tech Manual.

Feel free to add to the manual at any time.
