from my knowlege i think they all have the same 2.5L engines in them, the only difference would be that the options that comes in the cars, i think the rs has a sports kit and fog lights as a standard (please correct me im wrong)

They are all 2.0L engines - the only difference is the trim, options and exterior trim.Johnny T wrote:from my knowlege i think they all have the same 2.5L engines in them, the only difference would be that the options that comes in the cars, i think the rs has a sports kit and fog lights as a standard (please correct me im wrong)

I think the RX is the classic 93 - 00 shape and the RS is the 01 GD onward, LX & GX are lesser models, there was also the 1.8 Sportswagon of around 96 - 98 which was pretty basic, just stickers & a different type of roof rack from memory, here's one of my old ones lol.
Buy like this.
Put rear quarter from the car in my signature on it like this.
Tart up like this & make 6k profit lol, just to show you can do pretty much anything with them, the damage was actually pretty light compared to the way it looked.

Look under the bonnet of a Liberty & it's identical to an Impreza, Liberty's were actually out 3yrs before them too, it's mainly the quality & that bit of extra room, mechanically there is really no difference & very few mechanical parts are not interchangeable so same car different body, it's really preference & if looked after & serviced well they are usually good for over 400,000k's so one with history is good but they are a very easy car to work on & no matter which motor you get you can stick with any STI through the twisties provided you spend a bit on suspension/handling.
The first shape GC8/GF8 had 3 incarnations 93-96, rounder headlights, 97-98 squared headlights but still opaque & a dash change in 98 then the 99-00 crystal light one like my sig, improvements were mostly just cosmetic & small mechanical changes, same with the next GD shape with Bug Eye 01-02, Peanut Eye 03-05 & Pig Nose 06-07.
Early shape only came with 1.6L - 2L na & turbo, later shape had the 2L & 2.5 both na & turbo

GX and RX are 2.0L.
RS is 2.5L (except the new GE/GH model which are 2.0L, but I'd assume out of reach).
GX is povo/grandma spec - hubcaps etc.
RX and RS are basically the same everything (interior, skirts etc) as the WRX except the engine and drivetrain.
I voted for the RS, the extra 1/2 a litre in a 'little' car makes them go well.
I also like Liberty's thou.

LX is povo pack & a 2.5 might be out of his price range as they only came in the later GD shape, GX has full electrics & good quality interior.bobbyjimmy wrote:GX and RX are 2.0L.
