Brumby Sub Install

I picked up a Pioneer Shallow 8" woofer the other day and a Kenwood amp to go with it. More response than bass is what I was after. With the limited space in the brumby I set out to make a box. I didn't want it to be to one side of the cab, even though it wouldn't make much difference so it is sitting directly over the transmission tunnel. Doesn't need a big box, recommended volume is 0.4 cubic feet for a sealed enclosure. Fits quite snug. Here are a few pictures so far.

Tunnel and back walls.

Next up will be to get the wire connectors on the side of the box put in, get the amp installed and then cover the box in something. Haven't decided yet what though. I might wrap it, the centre console and head unit fascia in vinyl. Will keep this updated as I get it done.

looks good so far mate.

needs covering obviously :p

interested to see some photos of it installed

just thought, if ur putting it between the seats, it might want some extra 'camouflaging' for those theifs out there.

MY's arent exactly 'secure'

Got the wiring kit and side terminals today. Did a dry fit with out anything in it and it fits perfectly. Who needs a table saw when you have a jig saw and a tenon saw. I've put the amp on the side for now until I find a better place to mount it. Ran out of daylight to put it in today so will have it wired up and put in tomorrow after work I hope.

Ok this is it installed so far but its hard to get proper pictures of it. Fit perfectly and sounds preddy good considering I haven't turned it up fully yet. Wires all over the place and it's not covered but i will do that later. I wanted to make sure it was working and all was good first. I'm now thinking of doing the box light blue to go with the seats etc.

Oh and this is my second box I've made. First was a custom fit *took me ages by hand* for a Mazda 626. Housed two 15"ers.

Looks Good just wondering why you didn't rake it back with the angle of the seats?

Else then it would be short and fat and funny looking. It doesn't need that much air space behind it. The seats go all the way back and on full tilt just touch it so I think it came out preddy well.

Looks the goods mate, first reading this I didn't get what you were getting at. But looks perfect for the brumby! What are the other options you could of looked at for installing a sub?

I could have made a box to fit completely behind one seat as most people do but I thought it would have sounded funny. I also toyed with the idea of putting it beneath the glove box but my passengers usually like the leg room.

Oh and also I remembered a reason why I didn't have the box follow the angels of the seat. I have long arms so when putting the hand brake on it would have bumped. I've found the box is a good arm rest though.

that is a fantastic looking speaker housing.
It is a problem at times in the brumby trying to develope news ideas with the room that is there.
Good job. Are you going to cover it with anything?
