Basically you have to bend the bracker on the left hand side out of the way to keep the ash tray or make up a new facia and custom brackets.

Yeah i have done this. I played with the fitting for a couple of hours cutting and filing everything so it would fiting so I can still have use of the ash tray. There is no real way to explain it and photos won't really help i think. The only words of advice i can say is it will fit with some playing.
The facia you can buy somewhere i believe, some one here should know where. Just put a wanted add up.

I made a new fascia out of 16mm craftwood. rectangular with rectangular hole in it. mounted or screwed the cradle to it and screwed it all back into place.t

Find an 80-81 sedan/wagon/coupe, unscrew their console, cut out the DIN-size radio supports with a hacksaw and file, paint to match your interior, and it all fits. Only problem can be if your CD player is too long, and the entry/exit angle of the CD as the player is sitting on a 30 degree angle (my 2nd-hand Pioneer works fine, and plays back better over rough stuff than my $400 Sony

).
There's a donor grey unit at a wreckers near me that I almost grabbed the other day as a spare...those 80-81's are getting tough to find (I just shipped a brown one to a guy in the US last week). PM me if you want it...I think it was about $12.
