I phone connector

Post by bug i » Mon Feb 18, 2013 9:44 pm

My son has just bought an 04 Liberty and has the Macintosh PF-25511 stereo. Does any body know which socket is the aux and if there an adaptor cable available for an Iphone 5 and does it charge the phone at the same time.

Hi and Welcome bug i ;)

I'm no expert on these stereos but being the factory units were made long before the iPhone 5 was released, then I doubt it would. I know there is no AUX input and the only way the play external music is via FM transmittor like this one...

I did this to my Gen3 Outback to get an aux input
How to add an AUX input to your factory Gen3 Headunit
I actually have a few spares that I made up, you you will have to check if yours actually has the 13 pin round connector, which from memory, I doubt it does.

There are interfaces that you can plug your iphone into and connect to the CD stacker port on the back and you can actually control your playlist from the head unit, but you need all your songs arranged into 6 playlists

This might do the trick Car Interface iPod iPhone input Adapter for SUZUKI with Clarion OEM radio

Hey Gannon, They do have a 13 pin plug but it's square, would these work in the same way as the round?

Here's a pic of the rear of the PF-25511

Yeh I think thats the correct unit. Spoke to the guy at the car stereo shop today. He traced down the original kit- AE1251 no longer available but you may be able to pick one up on ebay. He did also say the Suzuki use the same unit. Looks like the right connector only problem I can see is he has the Iphone 5 I'll look into it deeper.

Cheers

Mick.

Yeah the iPhone 5 uses the small connection now, so I think BT is the best way.

Yes the i-Phone 5 uses the smaller plug which is a pain the !@#$ when you have a 5 and an i-Pad (the Pad has the i-Phone 4 socket) you have to have 2 cables.
It appears aftermarket 5 stuff is non existant or very hard to get at this stage

The square "CeNET" plug is used for the CD stacker control and by looking at the pin-out, it does have analogue audio, but the problem is that it wont work without some kind of digital signal, and the ea1251 somehow emulated it.

The other way is to get a stacker and install it, put a random disc in it and then splice into the cable and tap the audio lines. That way the stacker will produce the digital signal, but your ipod will supply the music

Could you install a later model headunit from a Gen 4 that has the aux in capability?

Well we probably could but its finding one here in Perth plus he likes the look of the Mac's black face. He's not a car tech sort of guy, just drive it and fill it so Looks like its left to me to sort it.
