Wont have a sub if its just an X. I have a feeling the fronts are 6.5", but not certain.
What did you have in mind to replace them with?

I just replaced the cd player with a Sony unit and was thinking of upgrading the standard speakers to some Sony/pioneer 6" speakers in the doors. Still not sure tho as the standard ones actually sound quite good with the new head unit.

The factory speakers have always been Clarion, up until around 2005 and then they went Kenwood. If you want an upgrade, just get a set of factory tweeters like this

ebay.com.au/itm/Subaru-Forester-Tweeter-speaker-upgrade-Kit-fits-03-08-OEM-Part-H630SSA100

The wires are right behind the triangle piece ready to plug in. If you want to put your own tweeters there, just splice them into the supplied wire
