Personal preference is GME unit (TX3200) with RF Industries antenna (CD5000). My gme is 6 years old and has never broken. Check out prestige communications website for some good prices.

I agree with the TX3200 but not the antenna. A GME AE4018K1 is an extramily good all around antenna to use and is very good for bull bar mounting. How do u want to mount it?? "Z" bracket out of the fender (not recommended). Through the roof?? or off the bull bar?? We sell tabs for the bull bar that are stainless steal that are bolt on and u can remove if u get a new bull bar.

TX3200 unit costs about $350
Antenna cost about $120
Bracket cost about $30

These are RRP... I can get them for you for cheaper at cost price if you get them sooner rather than later.

I would have to agree with Lightning_Silver_RX & SuBaRiNo. The GME TX3200 is a great unit. The AE4018K1 is the better aerial to go with.

Hell no on the antenna. The screw on top is likely to, and can snap off. I've had it happen. Hence going to the CD5000. It gets bent and bashed all the time. Springs back every time. And I believe it is the best transmitting antenna I've had and very close to the 6 foot mobile one I had with regards to recieveing. CD900 is apparently better here but I didn't like the build (its a bit gay looking).

I will chat to you in person about this Alex. Since your most probably going to be getting it through me anyhows. There are more than a few reasons why i would chose the AE4018k1 over the CD5000. I have not seen them snap... and if they were to then there is a very cheep top replacement. If your worried though there is a stainless steal version. (AE4028K2)

Why wouldn't you fit a CD5000 Dave ?

spring base is the important feature you want, esp if mounting on bull-bar.
No prob with GME so far, hey aussie made and owned, can't get better than that? er...*hides* subaru..hehe

Im only giving my opinion here....

But...
- CD5000 is not elevated feed.
- More expensive
- If you break it u need to replace the whole thing
- Single point of flex (at the spring)

As far as strength goes... i would bet that if you hit the CD5000 and an AE4018K1 with a base ball bat... i know which one will shatter and which one will be less likely to.

Im running the (apparently gay looking) CD900... mainly cos of how it looks but again it is a bit more than the AE4018K1 but the same style of antenna.
