just picked up on of these from 3.... nav system works great, good size buttons for easy msg'ing.

so if your considering a tom tom or nav man and also in the market for a new phone i'd suggest this phone. m ymate got an N95 with the sat nav and he hasnt figured out how to use it yet. this one in nice and simple.
only down side is it comes with a 512mb card and 200mb is filled up with the maps etc for the sat nav so if you like having lots of photo's and vids on your phone you will need to up grade the memory card

my 2 cents

Yeah another question about Nokia 6110 - is the maps too small while you're driving if you want a quick look? if you place the phone on windscreen...

the phone talks to you the whole way so you dont really need to look at it... nokia do sell windscreen mounts for it though

ive got the same phone, i got some GPS points from Google earth surrounding some local tracks and just plotted it on the GPS on the Nokia 6110 and it got me to the track easy as, im very happy with the phone i would advise people looking for a new phone to consider it, im considering one of those windscreen mounts but its $80 for a stick on mount.

I recently changed over to a Nokia 6110 Navigator. I am am very impressed with the navigation software. Satellite lock is very fast compared to the Navman I also have. But the Nokia operating system has crashed twice on me, and requires you to remove battery to reset it. The screen is quite readable, and the voice is fairly loud.

I have had the 6110 Navigator 3 day before it was officially released on the 3 network. It is a great phone! The navigation software is easy to use & the map detail is very good. I have had it lock up on me only once..... Other than that I cant fault it..

I just got the N95,
great phone but battery doesnt last that long, and you need to have reception to use the gps
is that the same with the 6110?

i havent been in the position to use gps without reception on the 6110, but the manual says it can be done.

The GPS function only relies on the GPS satellites to work. It does not rely upon the cell phone system to work. I used my phone where there was no phone coverage and the GPS functioned nicely.

maybe the n95 just has a bull**** gps system which doesnt help me at all seeing as though I don't get reception where I live..... :(

I fiddled round with all the settings and then just let it sit outside for a while... I'm pleased to say that it is now working perfectly.
I guess it just had to configure itself and I was just being impatient. :D

My N95 does the same thing... maybe I need to let it sit outside too.

Everywhere I look though tells me I have to pay a yearly fee for voice navigation. Is this the same on the 6110??

On the 6110 I think it came with the voice nav software built in with maybe a 1 year subscription or sumthing... (Not 100% on that though). But it did come built in. On the N95 you do have to pay to get it, but you can still see the simulation of what the route would look like for free. I have found the maps are very comprehensive, even covering the track up to the summit of kosciusko.

Got this phone about a month ago aye and it's great. Only thing I don't like is some days it will take about 4-5 mins to find satellites but sometimes does it in 30 seconds. Definitely worth it if you want a phone with GPS and the service is free, though updating maps every other year may cost something. It has stereo speakers so good sound for the voice nav and for speaker phone, even cranked to full it doesn't distort on ya. One of the windscreen mounts would be handy despite being $80, but I'm after a cheaper substitute on ebay at the moment. Oh and it doesn't need network service to use GPS but you can download info on the satellites locations every time you turn it on so it finds them quicker, though I don't.

ok that's my 2c.
