Hella FF4000 compacts

I fitted a set of Hella FF4000 Compact lights to the bullbar before our trip this year. I have always been a fan of Hella lights and have had quite a few different sets. 140's, 180's, Comet 500, rallye 1000's etc

There is no comparison with these lights. They are far better in my opinion than any of the other sets of Hella lights I have had. They have a sturdy metal body and a new design in how they are adjustable. The lens looks the goods as well. I have a set of clear covers fitted to mine for a little protection. They are deep enough for an HID upgrade which I plan to do in a few weeks.

From a distance of a few metres they look like a spot beam. It is when you get up close you can see they are actually in between a spot and flood beam.

When overtaking trucks last night between Mackay and Rockhampton i could notice a major difference when my high went on and they dipped their lights. Generally trucks have decent lights on the front and these were better than most.

They are a small light with a lot of light output. 9/10 in my books. 10/10 I would say when I have the HIDs in there.

I've always used hella driving lights - I think the 3 on the front of Ruby Scoo are hella 140's with 130W globes, they work a treat.

The one in the centre is an original from my P plate days - 8 years so far and its copped a beating. It survived a roo hit that killed its partner, been hit by a bird, several rocks including a big mother on the nullabour that has almost shattered the glass.

Not a real good image to show the lights but I like it all the same

Love them and will always look at hellas first.

For a small light that won't break the budget the Hella 140 is excellent. I have had a lot of them over the years. I still have a pair on the front of my boat for night navigation in the creeks. They seem to last forever and a day.

yep ive got 3 hella 140s on the front of the lib, loved the spread they gave while away on the trip, one in the center and the outer ones lighting up the side of the road for roos!!!

Byron, have you got your lights like this \ l / or like this /l\. (Up is pointing away from the car) Apparently the second way is best. You still get a light shining to each side but they cross in the middle giving you more light there.

i saw the price of the FF4000 Compacts today

220 for Black and 280 for Chrome....each aswell

there was even one for 818

culdnt tell why that one was so specail though.

The $818 ones are most likely the HID version. Check out ebay for the other ones.

i have a set of rallye 4000s on my brumby have so for the past 2 yrs and they are great epecially for when ppl try and battle you with there hi beams they soon enough stop mine are 170watt get a good light up 2 about 5 or 600 meters but must run engine 2 use them as i dont have dual batteries
