82 Model MY Tourning wagon front strut insert

I am looking to replace/beef up the original front struts on the 82 model MY Touring wagon.
The existing struts are adjustable and as far as I can tell have a nut on the top which I am guessing means the struts can be opened up internally.
About 30+ years ago before I discovered Subaru's I was very into Datsun's in particular the 200B.
On this car I fitted Trailblazer Super heavy duty front strut inserts (Monroe ?)instead of replacing the whole strut. Has anyone gone down the front strut insert replacement road or have people just replaced the whole strut with a non adjustable type.
I did want to keep the adjustable option and recall FROG can get original Subaru adjustable struts but I am looking at inserts if possible at this stage.
