HELP! Gen3 OB body lift

Post by Maggoo » Tue Aug 09, 2011 7:57 pm

G'day guys
I have been installing a 2" body lift to my 03 Subaru outback but i have hit a bit of a brick wall.
I have installed everything except the engine cross members and the front trailing arm?
I am having trouble fitting the blocks as i cant get the cross members low enough.
Also it looks like it has moved back as none of the holes line up.

Here's some pictures showing what i mean.

I need some quick help as the car is up on stands and i am stranded at home until i get it done haha.

Cheers,
Paul

Have you un-done the pitching stopper at the top of the engine?

in the engine bay it is on the firewall above the gearbox and it attaches to the gearbox.

Make sure the engine and box is supported before you undo the bolts. one on the firewall end the other on the gearbox

Thanks for all the help guys
My lift is installed.
Just one problem though.
I cant seem to reattach the pitch stopper to the gearbox.
The gearbox is to low and wont line up.
I have tried jacking it up at different points but it didnt work.
Help?

Also if i cant fix it can i drive it to my local mechanic (under 5km) without it connected or will it damage something?

CHeers,
Paul

The pitch stopper will have to be extended because the gearbox is now 2" lower.

You might be best going to the wreckers and grabbing the metal stopper from an early model Liberty or from an L series and cutting and expending it. Can you use a welder?

It doesn't look like the pitch stopper needs to be 2" longer as it is close to fitting in.
If i do need a longer one would i be able to get one somewhere or would i have to make it myself? I cant really weld.

When i lifted my car there was some adjusted where it bolts to the fire wall, have you loosened that up to see if that helps? Actually i change the pitch stopper and the mount it uses on the gearbox to a different type from an imprezza, i can't remember why though... if you have no luck then maybe post some pics.

Yeah it wont be 2 inches it needs to be extended, because it is at an angle. But it does need to be extended.

Thanks for all your help guys!
Jeff from crossbred made up an extended pitching stopper for me.
I installed it the other day and it fit perfectly.
Finally my lift is complete haha

Thanks again everyone
