Bent Gen1 Lib rear suspension

My brother owns a 91 GX wagon and he was driving too fast on a dirt road and slid sideways into a bank.

The rear wheel now has serious positive camber and a little bit of toe in. We pulled the tyre off and the hub expecting to find a bent control arm, but they look straight.

He took it to a mechanic and they couldnt find what it was so they suggested that they will cut and extend one of the control arms.

This to me sounds a little dodgy.

What else could it be? A bent strut or maybe even the undercarriage

Any input is welcome

Take it to a Panel Shop and get a quote.
The quote should say what they're planning to do, eg change suspension parts or straighten chassis.
Daza.

Could be something else... panel shop has all these points to point measurements... I would take Daza's advice.

Other option is to swap parts over see what happens.

sounds like a bent strut. They can be bent and youll hardly even notice by looking at it.

dont extend the control arm..sounds ludacris!

Thanks. Everything else looks straight so i was thinking the strut (even though i cant see any damage or mishaping.

I'll tell him to pick up a spare and try it out

Unbolt the strut at the base and check it with a straight edge for a bend. If nothing else looks wrong it could be the strut.

Swapped struts, no difference.

I got a better description of what the mechanic was planning on doing.

He was gonna move one of the mounts (im assuming one of the lower control arm mounts)

I rekon his best bet is to get an adjustable lower control arm
