My friend just got back from being there for 12 months.. loved it :)

I'd go just for the experiance.. you can always come back to Aus when you've had enough :cool:

My ex gf (Jap) is there now & loves it so much she has extended her visa by 6 months & my son is going in a few month with his gf to live there for a couple of years.........Go for it while you can, I wish I'd done something like that when I had the opportunity instead of starting in my 50's.

I saw once on another forum somebody was talking about this.
Apparently this website has a wealth of invaluable information;

Definately go for it, Canada is awesome. I find canadians to be very similiar to aussies in temperment and humour, having travelled in both canada and the states i'd say they're quite different. It's like the closer you get to canada, the nicer the americans get.

Canada is beautiful and the people great, certainly give it a go! Like RSR said, if you don't like it come home, at least you'll be better for the experience. Having spent a fair time in canada, I can vouch for the quality of cannuk ladies ;)

where you hoping to head? I spent all my town out west as that's where the mountains are, British Columbia is where I was and plan to be back there eventually!

GO FOR IT!

That was my endevour - but had no inclination of heading overseas before seeing Oz... Now I'm about to "get hitched" in 6 months to an aussie that I'm very much head over heals for. She doesn't like 4wd'n but loves everything else - so I'm working on that!

I say go for it! Their wages suck but when you find a job stick with it. Bros just got back 3 weeks ago and my sister's still over there. Both worked the snow season and met a lot of aussies, also caught up with a lot that they work in the snow with over here.

Canada and Alaska are two places I'd love to visit soon, maybe I could live vicariously through you for one of them spike :twisted: I'll let you have the girl ;)

Cheers

jumping in late here but Winnipeg is the sh!thole of Canada!

We stayed 1 night downtown and couldn't get away quick enough. Beggars, drug dealers , people eyeing off our suitcases, hookers ,dodgy people just loitering around the hotel lobby , that's just in the 15 minutes or so unloading the car and checking in. And this wasn't some cheap backpacker hostel either.
After we checked in we drove out for dinner and straight away at the traffic light this guy ran up with a friggin window washer. This was 8pm at night on a quiet street. We both sh@t ourselves because we thought this guy was about to jack us.

If you have the choice stay somewhere else
