Cheers!

no, but take air box off, start engine in neutral, handbrake on , wheels chocked, make sure no kids around, have a look and listen to sound of carby sucking air and fuel, activate throttle cable to get off idle and see if you can see fuel squirting from accelerator pump plunger into venturi. it needs to squirt pretty hard to atomise, if its just a dribble - well you have prostate trouble - just jokin' - that's later. Assuming it is not a weber but original hitachi there is a sight glass window to view fuel level in float chamber. clean it and look at it running (engine , not you)
come back and tell us

Cheers Jono, will have a crack on the weekend! At what level should the float level be??? Hopefully this sorts out my shuddering problem under load as well. Yet to clean out the lines.

There's usually a dot in the middle and/or a couple of points coming in from the side, either way it should be about half way.
Also check your timing, should be about 8 degrees advanced, 10-12 if using 98 octane fuel.

and due to my previous experiences I also suggest both front and rear fuel filters and when all disconnected including pump lines, blow air through all metal pumps with ends free to ensure no muck build up

Hey guys, cheers for the advice to date. Checked the float level over the weekend and its sitting right in the middle which seems ok. As for the jet, it appears to be sraying a decent amount of fuel into the carby so it doesnt look like its short of fuel. Plugs are brand new and fine. Next step is to blow out the fuel lines. Ill let you know how i get on. Also, do you know of anyone in the Brisbane area who specialises in subaru brumbies???
Cheers Pawl.

All solved lads! Turns out the lead from the coil to dizzy was corroded! Man what a drama this has been! Alls good though!
Morale of the story! Start with the basics first!
