Inside an my carby fuel tank

Just an fyi / maybe helpful for someone. The original pickup is bent "up" in the photo

Ignore the 1/2 inch copper pipe. It went to a home made pickup sump that looked like this. Didn't hold much and leaked too

That's nasty! So is that brown deposit all rust? A sign that water has gotten in somehow.

I stuck a bendy inspection camera inside my wagon fuel tank and was surprised to see it looked like brand new inside!
Will it ever end!?

Was a spare off a parts car, no intention to use it other than the steel. I have another that looks like the 2wd inside that I'll use. Was off the brumby that Carl used the back half to make the trailer out of.
It sat outside in the rain for ages (years) but had a sort of weird foam ish type chunks of deposit inside, non flammable and definitely not rust. Maybe e10 was used, maybe the metal epoxy used to seal the welds? I dunno. Should clean up ok with a wire wheel then acid then rust converter before welding.
I'll start a new thread for what I used bits of it for tomorrow

2wd tank is probably flash rust from when I hosed it out yesterday or grinder dust.

I'm hoping you had water in these tanks when you cut into them regardless of how long they sat around.

fuel tanks of any age and sparks are a big no no
