EA81- Engine Numbers

Post by Wooster » Thu Jan 09, 2014 12:57 pm

:?:Hopefully in the right place?, Attempting to determin year of manufacture of engines and assuming (which one should never do) that EA 81 engine numbers can be used to date the engine?. If so how?

cheers

don't go by engine numbers, go by round marks in block casting, sort of year inside a clock face on some blocks. USMB has a sticky on this already- may be some help?

Interesting Steptoe, the marks as described are on the old engine (1981), but not on the new one, go figure!

Yeah my old block had 79/1 or something like that. Definitely 79 though. Interesting if that's the engine year as the body is November 82.

Regards
