Remote
Remote
Hey everyone i'm new to this site but was told to come here for some advice or a push in the right direction if I may
I've got a '99 Subaru Heritage and the buttons on the remote are starting to sink in pretty bad which is getting rather annoying. I called up my local Subaru and they quoted me $350 for a new remote which is a bit too much i reckon. So my question is do any of you know of a cheaper alternative?? I've also thought about trying to create a flip-key solution if that's possible??
Any info would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advanced.

There are many locksmiths with high tech equipment specialising in car remotes - speak to them - that might be best way to start with this. I got them to re-program my wife's Camry's remote..

Thanks for the swift reply mate, i found a couple and have left messages on their phones so will see what they say soon i guess...
Yeah Alex so I've heard... I've asked a couple of places that cut keys and reprogram etc. and they've all told me NO before I had finished my question lol. I'd like to make it a flip key if it's possible, I think it'd look pretty good.
Anyway thanks again for the help, look forward to learning a whole lot more on this forum

Hi, I am also a newbie. Found these remotes on the internet and was wondering if anyone has bought one? How do you program to work on a 2005 Forester ( gen 2)? Thanks, Steve.

What we've done before at work as requested by the owners. Get a second hand remote, say from the wreckers for 1/10 of the price of a new one. Disassemble it, use the old remote but put the buttons and button pads out of the second hand unit.

Not sure about a heritage, but in my dads 02 STi, it has key recognition. ie so if you have a key that is cut right, it still wont start the car untill subaru program it. (his is a key and remote all in one)
When life gives you a corner, drop a gear, pitch, and stomp the loud pedal

Hi SamNABZ,
How did things work out with the key and remote? I've just joined the forum, having bought an 06 Impreza. One key is fine, but the other has no buttons. It works fine, just have to open the driver's door with the key, then press the central locking door button to unlock the rest of the car. It's not too bad, but could be a hassle for quick access to the boot, and opening the other doors for passengers.
