UHF Mounting, Mysterious wires and plug??

Post by 93_Subi » Mon Nov 20, 2006 10:56 pm

Gday folks..

So i had a few ideas of where i could mount a nice little UHF GMEtx3200 or the like... But my mate's giving me a older din sized UHF for free.. so i aint gona spend 300 odd on a newie.. My question is where does everyone mount their CB's in the L Series Wagons?? Got a couple of ideas.. Just wondering what everyone else has done.. Pics would be great please :)

Also in my glove box hanging down from inside the dash is 2 wires which go into a plug which is just hanging there.. in this format - l looks like those spade conectors or another plug would go into it.. is this possibly an aftermarket power source for a CB? But i cant find any holes where a CB or Antenna wouldve been mounted.. Or is it a subaru factory bit for something??

Cheers,

Matt

you can always mount it on a bracket, on the passenger side of the drive tunnel.
Them wires might be to the light bulb that sits at the bottom of the dash somewhere.....throws some light from the cig plug..etc.

Yeah on the passenger side of the tunnel was my 1st thought.. Then i thought well could it fit in under the CD player if i made a custom suround/spacer to replace the one thats there at the moment... hmm..

I installed a CB which is the type where the control panel is separate to the main box. This allowed me to mount it in the little sunglasses holder on the right side of the dash. The main unit is mounted behind the dash board and totally invisible.
The Mic ended up in a very convinient location, the main advantage being that the Mic cord doesn't get in the way (it doesn't have to stretch in front of the steering wheel from the left side of the car).
