I'm looking for an ea81 in good condition to drop into my 1991 Brumby. I'm in Newcastle NSW. Just recently rebuilt the current engine but a block half bolt has stripped that holds the rear main crank bearing and I can't think of a way to fix it. :(

Can't helicoil it?

Or put a type of nutsert in there?

Cheers

Or make it a stud arrangement with a pin/screw/nut and bolt job to anchor it in place. That'd be better than a helicoil and will get around any space/meat issues for te helicoil to do its thing in...

I hope one of these help out as that's a lot of work and coin to "bin" due to one lousy thread :(

Cheers

Bennie, it's got to go through half the block to reach the thread in the other half. How would the pin screw nut work? I have a spare block that I thought I might resurrect the engine in time. Just too busy at the moment to do a full rebuild.
