Yes wayne, i have 3. Paul, I understand what you mean about whether he has copyright, i am waiting for him to come back from holidays so i can talk with him more on what my plans are. I personally can`t see an issue but i already have some small changes in mind that shouldn`t cause any issues but i will discuss it with the original manufacturer first.

The rims on the yellow brumby are from a company in Lilydale(Vic) so when i can contact them i will ask how they came up with the design.

Phil, I live about 5 mins from Lilydale - I can probably get more info from them face-to-face than you will be able to over the phone / email - and if you PM me the details I can run down and see them.

Business is business as you well know paul, but i like to dot the i`s and cross the t`s before i invest money in a project so no comebacks on me. Have got someone in usa also looking into making them over there as the market is alot bigger but still plan to go ahead here in aus as well.

That`s an interesting idea Paul. I`ll talk to the owner of the forum and see what he says about the use of the logo.

Mike (scorpion) has no interest in older subies anymore so I doubt he will care if you make look-a-like rims. Just give him a call.

Copyright has to do with intellectual property i.e. and I quote (I hope this wasn't copyrighted, lol) "The exclusive and assignable legal right, given to the originator for a fixed number of years, to print, publish, perform, film, or record literary, artistic, or musical material"
Mr Scorpion didn't reinvent the wheel, he just made a beautiful version of it!
On the other hand, if he had 'patented' something very specific about his wheels which no one else had thought of, then this project would be dragged into a legal mine field.
I doubt he patented anything, so I think you are home and hosed.

Spoke to Mike at Scorpion Subaru today and he does not have a copywrite or a patent on the rims he was making so it`s all systems go for me to start reproducing. As i already have a couple of these lying around i will be trying to get as close as possible to original manufacture.

Haven`t decided if i`ll do colours. Might just do primer/undercoat so people can finish them however they like. Don`t know yet what price but there could be a window for custom centres as well. The more interest that is shown will obviously dictate outcome for project.

Wagon Wheel ...

I can offer to draw it up if you like, as I did the standard wagon wheel a while ago, would be easy to modify to something like the Scorpion Rim ...

These wheels are most likely still available with the correct centre hole diametre and varying offset.

Rang infinity wheels and the rims he has have 110mm centre bore hole which are too big for the hub locating lugs on brumbies and L`s. Thanks for the contact though as he is interested to talk about my project. Also spoke to eastern wheel works in Lilydale(vic) about his rims and they are around $300 each as they are full custom to whatever design you want. So i`ll keep making hub rings for the larger wheels to fit till i work out the scorpion copy.

Got a random email from someone called Amy offering 5 Scorpion rims (Second hand) for $2300.00 neg.

Had to ask if it came with the car or if one too many zero's were added in the price, but sadly this was the price without any of the above.

That price was waaaaaaayyyyyyy outa my price range even if they were brand new and personally delivered from Brisbane to Kalbarri.

What price would you pay ???????

Cheers
