Brumby Bonnet hinge

Post by 555Ron » Fri Jan 25, 2013 11:29 am

After a bonnet hinge, pax side that is tack welded to the firewall. It is a gen 2 brumby. Local Subaru wreckers can't help, have rung Harcourts wreckers through eBay and they haven't come through with the goods. Rung around locally and they all suggest ring the Subaru wrecker who doesn't seem to stock brumby parts anymore. I really need one, if someone knows of a good wrecking yard with a brumby or has a brumby that is scrap I am willing to compensate you for your time and effort.

Is the passenger's side the same as the driver's side or is it the reversed/mirror image of the passenger's side?

Harcourt isn't far from bendigo (benders) - I'm not headed out that way today but there might be another bendigo member that can get out there for you. Trick is finding one...

Cheers

Bennie, I'm just about positive the two are identical. The one I have was busted up so badly I couldn't be sure so I thought better to err on the side of caution. If someone was going to the wreckers I'd be happy to do a deal... Cheers.

You may be causing the shortage if you only ask for Brumby - try for any MY sedan or wagon 78 - 84 !

The laughing only gets harder if I ask about an early model wagon. No one around here seems to think there is any money in them...

Not much to them in the first place and what is not worn out after thirty years and saleable there probably is no market for such stuff - like a bonnet hinge.
You'll get one in here eventually

G'day

So true about the reaction of asking for MY/Brumy parts, I got that mostly when I first got mine. Harcourt will definitely have one, it's just gonna take persistence, if you can stand doing that(you shouldn't have to I know). I can go ovet there for ya, but not for another few weekends though. Bit busy this week & then week away with my girls in the camper trailer:p. You'll most likely find one by then.

Cheers Jake

Bantum, no. It is the part that this hinge bolts to on top of the firewall. It is welded to the chassis so nil chance subaru will have a part. I have pm'd Tex so should be nearing a solution...

Doh - nice find though ... :)
A possible solution would be to get some new sheet metal with appropriate thickness ( approx 2mm ? ) & fab up a new one ? P.S - I'd make a template from the old one also.
Cheers, Bantum ...

Well, problem solved. Massive thanks to Tex personally delivering the hinge this arvo. Should have the bonnet and Brumby back on the road Monday. Thanks to all for the help, except Harcourts Wreckers who only earned my ire.
