Clock Display
Clock Display
Could somebody please help me, I have bought a 2003 My04 Subaru Outback wagon, my problem is the clock display is not working. I took it to an Auto Electrian and he has no idea what could be wrong as he tested the fuses and they were fine, I was wondering where to obtain a new or even second hand one to replace this one. Been searching everywhere for one. Thanks.

In my 2000 Forester I had the same issue. There's a small component on the back that would continually come off during summer when being used and it was a very hot day - a capacitor. Can't remember the particular one, but that was the reason for it.Wynnum wrote:Could somebody please help me, I have bought a 2003 My04 Subaru Outback wagon, my problem is the clock display is not working. If you contact Subaru they can issue you with a brand new one for ~$50 - or that's how much it was when I asked for a new one. (Not fitted, just the part)
If you're a crack with a solderer, then the capacitor problem is an easy fix.
Otherwise, wreckers my friend.
I hope you find a good solution soon.

I fixed my daughters clock a few years ago and it's still working today. Turned out it was just some cracked solder joints. I took pics and was going to post a 'how to' thread but then did a search on here and found this link to another site..

Inside the clock would have dry solder joints. If you're handy with soldering iron you can do it yourself. Or get second hand clock?

Wow, I thought Subaru would have fixed this issue! Apparently not.steptoe wrote:Must be a genetic thing from the L Series. The MY analogue clocks were and are still great little time keepers
I've fixed a few L series clocks now, piece of piss. The hardest part is not cracking the clock's surround when you remove it from the dashboard.
