[WA] 1997 Outback Limited

Post by MY_STI » Wed Nov 13, 2013 12:20 pm

Hey Folks,

Unfortunately I've to move on this joy/thorn in my side. If you're happy changing head gaskets it could be a little gem for you!

Quick summary:
- 97 Outback Limited, wrx engine conv, 5mt dr, 210 k kms, reasonable condition overall.
- Overheats, nasty little bubbles in the cooling system, two bottles of Seal-Tite didn't help the case.

Monies? I’m open to offers.

More detailed blurb on goodies:
- 1997 Subaru Outback Limited, white and grey two tone
- 210 k kms, Reg till June 2014
- 1997 WRX motor, inc radiator & pwr str cooler.
- Parts - Battery 06/13, 215/65/15s on factory mags 05/12, steering rack bushes ~05/12, heavy duty clutch (and reinforced fork) 07/12, rebuilt pwr str pump 06/13
- Manual 5sp DR changed oil to MultiTrax at ~ 200 000 kms. Little notchy but not drastic. Slight seeping from the gear and low range seals.
- Body is fair, few dents and scraps. Looks ok for the road, but not good enough to worry about adding scratches. Perfect for an offroad bus! Scuff on front left bumper, rear right bumper, rear right wheel arch. Crack in rear bumper and rear right reflector out, tailgate (not all the same incidents :p ), lhs fog light cover missing. Roof racks, towbar, no tint.
- Interior has seen a fair bit of daily action. Driver seat worn on the right, odd stains on the carpet and seats. Everything still functions, windows, visors, climate control, all good. Put LED lights through the inside, aftermarket head unit, rubber floormats, fire extinguisher. Driver’s seatbelt is a little frayed, airbag light is on, no cargo blind. Has factory tools (yay!).
- If I recall correctly I'm the third owner, first owner was a fastidious old person I'm told, second a mother of several, so it's seen a lot of sticky fingers (vents are pretty much all busted), random stains, and daily wear and tear.

As far a the conversion goes it was more of less a straight swap as I'm sure many of you know.
- Physically everything fits in sweet.
- Electirically used the exisiting ej25 loom, added a 'sub loom' from the wrx, and changed a few pins at the ecu. Looks mint. Have documented all that in case you want to go back to the ej25 for whatever reason.

Bits to still be sorted:
- The 'minor' overheating issue
- Fuel pump still stock OB
- Cruise cable too short, GC8 module should drop straight in (anyone confirm
?) for cruise to be sweet again.
- Intercooler. Currently no bonnet scoop for top mount. There is front mount piping if you want to go that way.
- Airbag light is on
- The aftermarket remote central locking has become unhappy, and re-locks the car a second or two after unlocking. Car isn't immobilised at this point though...
- Speakers are a little haggard
- Driver's seat belt frayed
- Ghey blow-off valve.
- Intake pod.

Extra bits that somehow ended up over west with me:
- Early EJ driven plate (24 spline, 9")
- fuel filters (2x early factory style, 2x generic inline)
- 2x modified L low range selector forks
- 1 x lathed L selector ring
- 4 x ball joint shims (one way for EJ hub conversion...)
- lib tie rod ends
- NA water pump

Localed in Crawley, next to UWA.
Reply here, call, or email. Latter two prefered.

Cheers
Will

So similar to my conversion! :D
Turbo outbacks are awesome, Im sure someone will want it.

KMs on the wrx motor?

Damn I was hoping to ask about the cruise line, also interested to know if a rex module will plug in or if cruise throttle cables can be extended.

Has it been registered with this motor (over pits?).

Isn't yours a gen3 with a 02 WRX engine?

Bumpy bumps, surely someone wants (yet another) project?

WRX motor had around the same kms as the car, 214k.
Hasn't been pits passed.

As for money no idea what a half working outback is really worth. I'd like $1200 to pay for a few things but open to offers.

If someone wants to wreck it then I'll cancel the rego and we can sort out a lower price. Should still be able to wreck it and make something at that.
