l series rs turbo in perth

Post by gazcull » Mon Sep 23, 2013 8:26 pm

hi, selling my 88 l series with an 93 rs turbo engine fitted. i have had this car over three years and it has been very reliable, completed many a trip, last year a round trip to Broome from Perth, with no problems. She has started using a little water but i do suspect the heater core as im getting the sweet coolant smell when the heater is on, other bad points are a few small patches of rust on the body, the timing belt is due and im convinced the timing belt idlers are a little noisy, the heater fan is noisy too.
its got 6 months rego and recently had the suspension checked over (have receipts) following a repair after a little bump, see drivers side in picture, I've tried to keep the car up together but due to a change in circumstances i have no where to do the above repairs. as many of you know these car will embarrass many a larger 4x4 especially with the extra power from the rs engine. im pricing this car to sell pretty quick as she is in my fellow house mates way and they are complaining :(, so $2250 seems pretty reasonable
pm me with any questions or i can send my phone number and we can chat , cheers for looking, gaz

yep i've had a look at your forester, nice wheels :) the engine has done about 180000, well the previous owner had fitted it and says it had about 110k when i brought it, think he was genuine too, found the timing belt change sticker at 87k in japanese as it was an import, so all the mileages seem to tie up , the l series has done 270k

I know this car, conversion was originally done to an 89 white wagon in WA then owner moved to Melbourne but that car was crashed and everything was swapped into this body while still over in Melbourne. Was then brought back over to WA and passed over the pits successfully.
Nice simple clean conversion from a low kms frontcut, adaptor plate to an L series gearbox with heavy duty clutch and was always reliable for the owner who did the conversion (mate of mine). Not sure on it's history since he sold it but looks like it's still going strong. A steal at this price.

yep the history is exactly what the previous owner had told me :), has taken me a lot of soul searching to decide to sell her and i would genuinely want to fix her up and keep her if it was at all possible, will be a sad day when someone takes her away from me :(, im pretty sure i have got the mileage wrong that i wrote on my previous post to , think the engine has more like 150k on , not that it makes much difference, and the front tyres are pretty new to :)

I have my WAIC radiator mounted just in front of my A/C condenser. The only cutting/modding was to the grille. I can post some pics tomorrow if needed?

If you've got a series one, then that is possible because the grill screws to the headlights.
But on the series 2 it clips into the thin panel between the headlights & bumper.

Just realised we're cluttering up a sale thread. PM me

the intercooler radiator is mounted where the ac condenser should be , i got all the bits to fit the ac to the car , all pipes, condenser etc and was gonna fit the condenser back into its original position and somehow mount the intercooler rad in front of that , but never got round to it :(, which is pretty poor as im a fridge mech by trade , will give all that stuff with the car when someone takes her away
