WA Flyfishing

Post by 4xsama » Sat Mar 03, 2007 2:26 pm

Anyone keen to do a day trip flyfishing 'around' Perth.

As a newbie to the west, I am assuming the cooler months will be a bit calmer (as well as later sun-up's = no stupid getting up times).

I also have a pretty crappy spinning rod.

Where abouts is waroona dam? I've not got any flyfishing gear or nothin, and I'm not a big fisherman, but I like it. I'd buy some floating lures if you'd allow me to tag along :D

Would Waroona dam rivers have enough water at the mo?

1.5 hrs away sounds good. Have a look at a site called

I'm not very good but enjoy time in water out of the city.

Bream are also meant to be fun.

D3V1L, I can suggest a bit of wool (with floatant) as a good alternative to a fly with a hook for practice. Tie on the wool and head to your nearest oval.

A good book is Fly Fishing Fundamentals by Rob Sloane (1993). Flylife is a good shop in Bayswater. See Chris or give him a call. He is also mad keen on bream.

Also, have a look here;

http://forum.flylife.com.au/default.asp

I'll be keen in a few Sundays time.

Cheers.
