Elation to Deflation.

Took myself down to the wreckers yesterday cause I had a bit of time to myself (unusual with a 2 year old, and a 12 week old) - it was as busy as hell and wasn't quite why.... till I got to the door.
The sign read - ALL YOU CAN CARRY............ FOR $49!!
Grabbed the basic tools I had in the 90 Brumby and ran down the back.
There wasn't much there to pick from, a couple of L's..... oh hang on - there's a Leone there (2WD)...........
Took a look inside - Power Steering Pump, belt & rack all ready to go and in good nick.
Hooked in, ripped it all out excited as hell that I was going to have p/s in my beastie. Got it all out - right.... what else can I grab????
Called a mate to see if he needed anything - over to the Nissans to rip off 2 break callipers for him.
Walking out pretty happy - going passed the Mazdas.......... "hang on ......... did I read on ausubaru that cumfy arse Mazda 929 seats fit into the brumby with a couple of little mods? I think I did!!!!???"
Put the rack, pump & callipers down and ripped out two mint front seats out of a early 90s 929 - Whoo Hoo!!!
Right - Now all I got to do is carry it all up to the checkout (The Suby & Mazda stuff is right down the back corner.. damn...).
Any way, I got a bloke to stack the rack over across shoulders, put the pump & callipers, tools & the starter motor of the bloke that helped me (so it didn't cost him anything as a thank you) into my backpack and a seat (complet with rails) over each arm. Woop.
Got upto the counter - got a clap form one bloke. The last 100m to the Brumby was the hardest but got there on adrenalin and excitement about the new creature comforts.
Got home, ripped out the brmby seat and rails, grabbed the 929 seats... hang on the didn't line up.... not even remotely close. Played with it for about an hour playing around and seeing what I could swap over, rails, seat backs... nothing - will look for help in the modification section, otherwise onto ebay.
Wasn't too dissapointed, as I still had the powersteering set up form the Leone that I was going to put in.
After eggs and stuff was finished this morning - went out and and started trying to install the pump. Put the bracket in I grabbed of the Leone - fitted.. got a little excited. Grabbed the pump and tried to install it... but oh no it doesn't quite fit.... FIRETRUCK! The bracket needs to go further away from the carb to clear a couple of bits on the manifold (I guess that the earlier Leone manifold was a bit different). I tried packing out the gap between the bracket and the pump to get some more clearnace with some longer bolts - but was very dodgy) SO pump didn't fit either...... SIGH!. I'm hoping that I can just get a different bracket for it?? But I've got a feeling that the rack may not either fit either as it was 2WD into a 4WD.
The callipers fitted on my mates patrol & I hope the starter worked out for the other bloke......... but for me.. not to be.
End winge.
