I don't know how. Every one I know wasn't voting for them, or so they say. I am a bit concerned about my future/job now. Last time they were in it cost me big time. That is all I am going to say on the subject.

We dont want a repeat of what my parents had when they were paying off their house.

Just have to be optimistic.

I really cant think why anyone would vote labour with their record as far as interest rates and the like, when I bought my first house back in 85 , labour were in and the interest rates were killing me, I am going to be really pissed if the rates start to hike again as we have just recently bought a $500,000 house.
All the people that have been on the radio and such saying how they don't like John howard , who gives a toss weather you like the bloke or not , it is what they do that counts and he and the Libs have done a fine job
Oh and then they bring up **** like he lied about the children over board ,,,,,,, who cares whether he knew or not and with the Iriq war , Australia has been involved in nearlly every major conflict in the world no mater who is in power.

yeah can't really judge them by labor party of 11 years ago, totally different line up and diff international influences... Guess we'll see what happens in the next few years.

Really, this is a great country; both candidates are clever, level-headed people who want the best for Australia, it's people and it's economy. I may not have voted for the new prime minister, but I don't think it's that scary -- take a look at the problems in the US at the moment?

What's worse, is growing up in Zimbabwe, I never saw a Subaru of any sort (plenty of datos and pugs) I saw my first Subaru when I moved to Australia and bought a beat up Leone!

When I cast my vote I try to think less about what would benefit me and more about what would benefit those less fortunate than I, the future of the nation and which party would better serve the nation, both socially and environmentally.
It's important to note that it was Labor (Hawke/Keeting) who initiated the strong economy we are now experiencing with the floating of the $ and forging of south-east asian relations, among others. Previously high interest rates were more the result of a world-wide recession than economic mismanagement.
Howard has squndered much of the wealth of this nation, alot of which has come from a mining boom and not Costello's managemet of the economy. Rather than investing in the nations future, ie infrastructure, education, health and the environment...He insulted our intelligence and gave us tax cuts, this in turn gave us more to spend, which in turn put inflationary pressure on the economy and thus the interest rate hikes many of us have recently experienced.

I voted Labor based on having a social and environmental conscience and I look forward to us once again becomming a progressive, caring, sharing and tollerant nation:)

And to elaborate a little more from BENduro's point. It was Labor that introduced the superannuation guarantee back in the 90's. If keating had won the election back in 95/96 he had a mandate with the Trade Unions to up the superannuation guarantee from 9% currently to as high as 15%. This would have been a huge improvement to aging population, relying on the pension. A lot of extra dollars in compulsory saving just for being employed.
