Finally some sense. It's been needing someone like him to say it. Everyone else has for a long while now.
"Sir, that's a $150 fine for speeding."
"Oh, well my TV was stolen the other week, and that was worth $150 so I guess we're even then?"

Heh

The link isn't opening for me at the moment so I am guessing this refers to WA only and something about silly fines.
Wish our Cops on the East would take up the same cause.

Over here we call it "revenue raising". Police deny that they have quotas to fill, but with some of the stuff they fine you for it's hard to believe that they don't!
I hope other police forces follow suit!

Of course its all revenue raising! Without fines, the budget would blow out...grrrrr
Note that driving with fog lights on is illegal unless in a fog....IMO bit of an "iffy" law

I think I may have just added some revenue to "help out" last night

One thing you shouldn't have to look for when surveying a road - loads going on, last thing I checked after assessing the road was my speed - 5km/h indicated over a presumed 50km/h street limit - look up and there's a bloody speed camera

NOT HAPPY JAN! "Only been" about 7 years since my last fine - and it's still not been long enough!

You can apply to have it converted into a warning as it was less than 10kmh over plus no other fines within previous 2yrs
Fines Victoria - Official warning
Victoria Police - Official warnings

Thanks mate! A friend has already got me on to this - I got off last time (7yrs ago) and didn't realise that I could go again as the letter said that next time I'd have to pay. I didn't know about the 2 year part of it though...
Cheers
