Think it may be time if not already happened to post up pics of your specialised tools especially ones you or mates have made to help with your car repairs and maintenance.

Idea came about after the second post I recall when someone needed a tool to assist with gudgeon pin removal
In the interest of safety we don't need to see your Brumby sitting on two layers of milk crates !

Not anything special but these are 2 of the best tools I have :

Genuine GearWrench flex ratchet spanners - $75 from ebay !!

And flex ratchet - this isn't my actual ratchet - I have a cheap SCA one but too lazy to get a photo of it

Flex heads and 5degree ratchets on both make getting into awkward spots a breeze

My favourites are my stubbie sidchrome ratcheting spanners with flexy head. Awesome

Not the greatest pics, but it's one of the best tools I've made for a specific job - it goes bush with me too, just in case:

Other than the gudgeon pin slide hammer hook tool this is really the only other tool we've had to make - at least these are the two I can remember atm.

As for the rest of my tool kit, I spent some money I'd put aside for a mate's bucks party on a sidchrome metric tool kit 8mm-19mm socket and spanner set with two extensions, ratchet and breaker bar. Love it!

Ok - I have all the usual kit of tools - So here are some others that you might have come accross ...

A Mitre Box ...

A Big arse solding Iron & something to drill / solder & cut on ...

+ Something to look out for - a CV Dust Boot Clamp Installer with Cutter ...

A Multimeter & Test light comes in handy & one of these ...

Note : I don't have an actual picture of mine, but is very similar to above ...

See what else I can find in the kit bag ...

Here's a tool thats popular at the moment, no not the milk crate, they are popular all the time:D
A cooling system power flusher.
Uses tap water and compressed air to blast all the rubbish out of your cooling system.

That's a lot different to the one I know !
Here is one pic of a 30mm welch plug and screww in tyre valve used to clamp in our 30mm ID radiator hose to assist a flush after the caustic soda has sat for a while - still in protoype stage as I have not got a water inlet yet, just blows out whatever was in the core and tanks

The top one is my EA gudgeon pin persuader developed as I went along with no idea as a guide. I tapped a crooked hole in the end of the bar to take an EA Falcon ? headbolt ground down to fit, a lump of steam pipe with washers welded in each end.

Then two coathanger tools , one is a match holder to light gas hot water services with normal short matches. The other is used to hold M6 10mm headed bolts in place in order to fit them all back in place in the side of the EA82T cat heat shield

Bit of a close up...shows the remains of what was a 17mm hex head and its integral washer which is what gives me the lip

^ These tools are totally awesome! I don't cringe when I need to do a CV boot anymore, I used to HATE tightening up those bands!

You should be able to pick one of these up for less than $30 including postage on fleabay!

Yep, I think mine is slightly more developed, and its red8)
It pulses a mix of compressed air and water, through the engine, hoses and radiator. (future development tip for you)

windscreen or bonded window gunk cutter, rugged piece of gear, use solid gloves for that spiked double edged knife ! Need brute strength, care, skill and perseverence.

Human powered one habnd holds handle, while the other, preferably yer stronger hand arm combo drags the cutter along

Done one L screen and cracked another when I touched it with the cutter

it is as ugly as sin but I would never want to be with out it when I do the rear bearings on an MY or "L".

this is the second one Ive made the first one vanished with my tools when I went to live in Singapore

Couple of handy manual gearbox tools, crown wheel position/backlash adjust tool and a turned down socket to undo the pinion nut on an MY or earlier box.

I used a jigsaw to enlarge the hole for the nut, grinding a socket must be the better option. I have spied at a Subie specialist shop their tool for diff adjust and was square flat plate bout 6mm with bolts poking through, held in place with nuts. The exposed engaged with the fingers of the front axle seal holders
