"Oh Crap" moment today

I went to the wreckers to get a 3.9 rear diff to go with the Liberty Dual Range gear box i have to go into my RX Leone.

Got back from the wreckers and opened the boot of the RX to put the diff in there until im ready to install it.

I moved a piece of carpet only to find a perfectly good 3.9 diff hidden underneath.

I have just paid $160 for a diff and i already had one. Grrrrrrrgh

Oh well, i guess i have a spare now, maybe it may become victim to the welder.

Yeah - one of the infamous CIG lockers

They go awesome! I would strongly recommend a lift with the welded... and some spares if you're going with bigger tyres - shafts and stub axles + the tools to replace them.

The only problem with the welded diff is that it can get you into a lot of places that an open rear diff can't BUT it will also get you into a much sticker situation than you would with the open rear diff!

I had some good times with my welded rear diff, I might put it back in sometime to see how it goes with the EJ22 and 27 inch tyres... and see what breaks first.

Welded = point and shoot in the L

Cheers

Holy heck u paid $160 for an open diff!?
I've sold them for 40 bucks before and felt guilty about it lol.

Yeah welded might be good, although will put abit of strain on your Viscus centre diff in that gearbox.

Not sure if I've done the exact same thing myself, but I frequently have to buy things when I've actually had the exact thing in my possession for years, but have just recently thrown it out in a "cleanup".

shame really.
we buy bits for work then they dont pay for them and the jobs stay in the shop, then have somone come in wanting the exact same thing but we cant use the parts we have on the shelf
