There are domestic freight companies in Japan that would be much cheaper, I have Jap boarders & they get stuff delivered here all the time but buggered if I can remember the name of the company most of them use.
I'll ask one of them tomoz if I remember & hopefully she'll know the name of the company.
Also have you worked out the price Import Monster charges for air freight door to door? Might be able to use the same carrier if you can find out who they are.

I recently wanted to buy a shirt from the US on ebay - and was quoted US$62 for postage through UPS. So they can stick that up their jumper. I usually pay about US$10-$12 for postage for shirts with USPS (US Postal Service).

I have not bought anything from Japan - but I prefer not to involve UPS for anything. They can keep their hyper inflated prices.

In its infinite wisdom America has discontinued economy international postage rates so now you only have gold (USPS) and platinum plated (courier) services which really sucks as I did like buying computer parts from ebay as it was way cheaper that getting fleeced for parts in Australia
