radio codes

Post by rob83ke70 » Fri May 01, 2009 7:57 pm

doesn't it just give you the shits that a dealership will charge about $50 to get a radio pin, when it only takes about 5 minutes (assuming you are drinking coffee at the same time)?

for example, a hyundai code is determined from the serial number on the radio, a very simple mathematical operation, and the radio takes about 10 seconds to remove.

a peugeot radio is coded to the vin, and takes a few minutes using a pps (the peugeot factory scan tool) to code, assuming you don't really know what you are doing.

should I join a hyundai forum for the purpose of spilling the beans as to HOW to find out your own radio code? Why are they allowed to rip people off like this?

The worst thing is that despite me introducing myself as a motor mechanic, they make no effort at all to give me a better price than someone off the street, I think they get cut that I'm working for "the opposition" and I find that service departments everywhere (unless you are friends with the person you are talking to) won't help you out at all.

Thats my little rant for the night.

Robert.
