Some good roadside repairs.Those who drove out to Alice this year may remember this bit of track.Looks like our trailers didn't fare to badly.

That's un-real! I'll have to remember to pack a few extra batteries and some welding rods...

Sounds like they didn't have any trouble with their insuracne company - I guess OB's bad experience was from the trailer company themselves rather than the insurance complany...

ther used to be an add in the old pix mag for plans to convert an alternator to weld as well. iv seen a guy weld of his alternator and have been looking at doing this for the cape trip.funny how things come up when your thinking about them. cause idont want to have to leave the scrubaru up there if it could have just been welded

I would love to know how he used some car batteries as a welder!!! Im not one to brag but i am pretty good with a welder!

Hook them up as 24volt and use it like a stick/ark welder using some good jumper cables. I've not tried it, but apparently that is how it works

I did some bush welding up at cape york is 99. We found 3 batteries in series is a really powerful welder.

We welded a broken steering rack end back together on a L series half way along the telegraph track, It never broke again all the way back to brisbane.

We also welded an eye back on a rear shockie from my MY wagon.

All we took was the glass out of the helmet and some rods. and used jumper leads for the rest (we shoved the rod under the rubber handle on the jumper lead clip.

Sweet, ive got to try this one day!
