no..i got him as a baby from a shop..he was only 2 or 3 inchs long then...just over 3 years ago...he is over 12 inchs long now

it right up there with the Murray cod and Blackfish!

my mate had 1 got about 1 1/2 ft then we made the mistake of trying to feed it a bream, it was a little big for it and it (the barra) jumped out after trying to eat it......it died a short time later.
i currently have 2 Australian bass, 1 tandauns catfish, purple spot gudgeons, spangeled perch and some other smaller natives in a pond.

ive also kept murray cod, golden perch, barra, archer-fish, mouth almighty, northern cat-fish, barcoo grunter and probly some other species that have slipped my mined. (can u tell i like native fish):-D

barry is getting a bit of a handfull at feeding time...myself,the floor and anyone with 5 feet gets soaking wet....i have been told if i change his sex he will calm down but its much more fun now when i get someone visit and and ask if they can feed him....cracks me up everytime....
