im sure there is a place out there that does those kits. i think they are called Overlander Kits 4 around $10 000.

ive seen a couple of holden panel vans, a VL wagon, a VP wagon, a few kingswood wagons, a holden ute, an old ford fair lane (there was one 4 sale on ebay a while ago with the whole set up going: ie solar panels, long range tanks, lockers etc).

If I had a Torana I would cut it up and make it INTO a lift kit. Instantly triple in value!

That looks like an Overlander kit. They are based in Welshpool (WA).

I looked into them a couple of years ago for a Holden station wagon. It works best with a V8 & uses reconditioned Jeep Cherokee running gear.

It was quite expensive. $12000 & you supply your own 15 tyres & wheels.

I have seen quite a few on HQ & HZ chassis, but never a Torana before/

btw. I think the easiest way to lift a Torana is with Monroe Airjackers. Thats what I used on mine in the 80's. UC Torana hatchback, 4 barrel Holly, Extractors, Airjackers, A9X spoiler, Sunroof, Eagle ST tyres on wide gold alloy wheels.

Did someone say 'Bogan'.

hmm i may have had a torana too :)

179kw from a very small car in 1974 was nothing to sneeze at.

L34 had even more at around 400-420hp (308kw),
they are still faster than pretty much every flash ar$e commodore/falcon......

Now that you mention it - there is a Kingswood wagon on the Gold Coast in Molendinar that is jacked up with big tyres on it with an "Offers" sign on it. It was no gem - but it did look fun.

I've seen one of those installed to a VP Commodore Wagon. Massive chunky tyres, worked V8.
This was on our huge trip up North when I only had my $1000 Bunky L series....admittedly that Holden was enough to make me jelous at the time, it was hell beasty!

That VP wasn't on a Patrol Chassis by chance? With a Commodore 5.0L in it? Silver colour.

Wouldn't know what the chassis was, it was definitely a V8, but it was metallic blue in colour from memory.

I suppose it might have been silver, this is going back a couple of years...

Have seen that around my neck of the woods. Word on the street is it has a landcruiser chassis. Not sure of the exact specs though...

This is what you want!! Image
The Holden Overlander 4X4 was based on the GM Holden H-series vehicles originally modified by Overlander Motor Co Pty Ltd of Tasmania. Unfortunately, keeping up with GM model changes and government regulations put a stop to this business.

A substantial subframe made a chassis forward to support the new leaf-spring front suspension; the original Holden suspension being double wishbones with coil springs and there is no way that could be adapted to a live axle.

There was a Hz overlander over here in Canberra not long back for sale. he was asking $20 000 poor dirt old work ute condition.

If I had 20 grand i woulda got it straight away, stuff the subies...what an Aussie Icon.

BTW....I have a Mullet :)

Ya know I quite like those Falcon RTVs, a mate has one as a company car and it really is quite good. They've got HEAPS more go than I though and for an Aussie car they're buile quite well.

Awesome pics!!

Ford released a limited production 4WD Falcons in (i think!) the XY Series. One of my dad's mates managed to get one and do it up. They are an unusual beast.

Good pics on the Holden there
