I would like to know what elfen magic you used to be able to create a thread there.
As you are not a gold member there are areas of the board you should not be able to post or create threads in.

I think a moderator moved it. If it's gonna be all top secret I'll keep my info to myself. I was going to start a thread with the mods and brackets I did for my EA81and 5 speed conversion to the 77 model gen 1 but thought I'd be banned from that too, thats why I took down the 5 stud conversion pics too.

Willy, you won't be banned - if the thread has been moved from one subforum to another it's an oversight by a moderator that you're not a gold subscriber and can't post in the subforum they've moved your thread to.
To become a gold subscriber you need to pay $1 or $2 to the forum to access all areas so to speak. I can't remember where you find the details of how or who to pay
Hope this helps. I understand how frustrated you must be!
Cheers

Don't do that Willy, there is not enough Gen I action here as it is!

The post was in the wrong area i moved it to the correct area and put a sticky on it so it will stay at the top
Keeping posts and threads in order makes for a better forum
I didn't realise you're not a gold subscriber
If you subscribe you can access all areas

Thanks Yarney. I understand now why it was done, just a shame That some non subscribed members can't now add to the thread, would be good to get as many members as posible at this event.
I will subscribe.
Sublime I agree not enough Gen 1 action, we'll have to meet up. I'm currently organising importing a fair bit of Gen 1 bits from NZ, let me know if you're after any particular parts.

Interesting! Cromwell Auto Recyclers?
What I desperately need at the moment is a Gen I stage II ('77 to '81) bonnet!

Yes Cromwell, looking at a pallet box at the moment so a bonnet probably won't fit, I'll probably fly over later this year just to have a scrounge throught the yard, maybe I'll get a container and bring back a car or two LOL.
What bonnet are you after?

The one on the left is my 1976 1600 GL Coupe and on the right is my 1977 1600 DL 2 door sedan (now with EA81 and 5 speed).
I have a 1974 1400 DL 4 door and it has the same bonnet as the 1977 model.
Or are you after the same as a Gen 1 Brumby?

The grills are different on the 2 types I have, I reckon the guards may also be different on the Brumby shape to accomodate the blinkers on the outside of the headlights. I like my DL bonnets best as the shape looks really good from behind the wheel

OK, Gen I history lesson!
There are two stages of the Generation I Leone:
Stage 1 - 1973 (in Oz) to early 1977
Stage 2 - 1977 to 1979 (1981 for the Brumby)
While stage 1 and 2 look superficially the same the only bits that are the same are the front and rear windscreens, roof skins and some panels such as the floors and sills. Nothing else is common and will not fit. You cannot mix and match between the two different stages, except of course, for most of the mechanical systems (Not suspension prior tor 1975 as this is completely different). For an example, you cannot swap guards, bonnets or doors (the doors will fit in the 'hole' but they are completely different).
There are 3 different bonnets for the Uglies, stage 1 had two versions, one for the dual headlight models and another for the quad headlight hardtops. The stage 2 only had the one version.
Steptoe is correct I am seeking a stage 2 bonnet for the Brumby. I do know where one is, just problematic getting it back to Albury...
The stage 1 models had difference grilles for the DL sedans (in two and four door) and the GL coupes. Also note the front guards a specific as they have different mounting tabs depending on which grille is used (I learnt that the hard way!).

Thanks for the history lesson.

My GL Coupe has the Hardtop bonnet but it may have been changed at one stage......
I have an original parts book for series 1 Gen 1's I'll check it out when I get home.

Looks like this thread has gone off in a different direction LOL.
My parts book covers from 1972 to 1974 1400's
Between 72 and 75 five different bonnets were made.
GFT Hardtops (quad light) had the same every year.
Coupes, 2 doors, 4 doors and Station wagons have a different part number for every year.
