Donations are not asked for at all here but as you say, if some one sells a bit of gear through here, then we would not say no. It all helps keep things on track.
The sponsors (which I am in the process of putting up again) money goes a long way towards covering the costs of the site.
Also buying the windscreen stickers and stubby coolers helps a little as well. We don't put any mark up on the shirts though. We don't like to be seen as always trying to get money from the users.
One of the ideas we did have was AUSubaru webspace for a small fee to help cover the running costs. We have plenty of room this time and I think it may be a good way for people to "donate".
It would work both ways, $$ in towards running costs, extra content or links form the site and the users also get a little more in return.

This is do-able... i am sure that if we all kicked some gold coins byb555's way between us all we'd get a nice purse. (Considering on the old site there was a thread about us have 2000 members or some weird number).
I do like the idea about a small fee to buy/sell parts as well however comission on this will be hard to police.

I don't think this is something that needs to be policed, I'm sure most people here understand and appreciate the work that goes into the site and would gladly throw a few $$ bretts way if they sell something via the site, I don't think we need an obligitory or set amount, just what ever you think is fair.
Just put an announcement in the for sale section, something to the effect of:
"In an effort to continue providing and improving these free services please feel free to donate from the proceeds of any sales made via this site"
Followed by bretts bank details, paypal account, or whatever floats your boat.

I don't have an option to change the currency. I have to go through it
all and work out converted prices yet. I am also not sure what to do
with the shipping cost of things yet. I think the reason the USMB has a
minimum of $3 is due to the fees associated with it. $0.30 plus a
percentage of each transaction.
I will be putting up a stack more pics and items once I manage to get some pics of them all.
Any one want to do a "test" donation so we can see if it works. I will return the payment straight away.
