Posting Pictures for Dummies

Post by MUDRAT » Sun Aug 06, 2006 6:20 am

Firstly, your image must be hosted on the internet somewhere, that is it needs a URL (interweb speak for an online address).

Imageshack (http://www.imageshack.us) can host the image for you, it's very straightforward. They will give you the URL of your image.

Cut or Copy the URL.

After you've decided where you want the image posted, paste the URL into your text.

Now things get a bit fancy, you need to use code so that the forum software recognises the URL as an image and will post it as such (rather than as a link). On this forum, all code is written in brackets, ie [ and ], you need a code before and after your URL. The end piece of code always needs to begin with a forward slash, that is /. The code to post an image is simply "img".

So, to post an image you will need to write something like this:

Code: Select all

When posted, the forum software will recognise the image and you won't see the code, just the picture!
Monster Subaru sold to a good home!! Still a Subaru owner. Will try stay in the Ausubaru loop. Sorry

You can also attach an image to your post by clicking the "manage attachments" button in the under the reply box.

the above is one of two, it says try the 2nd url if this one fails but they both fail. Below is the second.

Just tells me..." invalid url".....? i have no idea why. I have no idea why it won't work for me, maybe there are some setings on my PC that won't allow this to happen???

One thing i have noticed on this website i get a lot of boxes with a red cross where there should be some kind of pic or something, does anyone else get this? I see all the avatars of other members but i get all these boxes with red crosses mostly on the home page

You are making sure you clear anything in the box for the url before you paste the link in aren't you.

im having some issues getting a picture in my sig and avatar.

im following all the usual prompts but am using coppermine as the address lets say http://ausubaru.com/coppermine/albums/u ... 0U8S2M.jpg

but have noticed that noone has the file type but that everyones is listed as
image.php?u=1298&dateline=1198409615

how do i upload these images as an ausubaru image?

You were using the incorrect IP address for the image. The one you have listed at the top of your post is the one you should have been using. The second bit of code you have there is the code that the forum uses to show your picture.
