Forum clean-up ??
I got an email from another car forum I have not spent much time on, not got much response from contributions either Another good reason to put my Ford up for sale
Anyway, the email was advising the forum was having a clean up and was going to dismember those not visit by 26Jan2013 and guess it has happened - not been in to tickle my username or see if the threat was carried out - don't care.
Just wondering if this forum needs a clean up of member names ?
have a look at the member list - there is heaps of one time visitors using up sometimes good usernames.
If so, I guess that would mean their contributions be wiped out ?
Or is there no harm in keeping usernames not signed in in last say..three years?
Does it make the site better after a clean up of this nature?
I am aware that there are many guests viwing many a time, more so than members signed in

Are there many one time posters that actually contribute? Most of them are trying to figure why their park/clearance lights wont go out.
I seem to recall on other forums where members have been removed for various reasons that the threads created by them remain in place

sounds good to me, if we can just clean up the names for those people who haven't logged on for over a certain amount of time, it would be useful for new members to have a name they want to have,
that's my 2yen. (that's my 2 cents if you don't get the joke :P)

Politically it may be fun, who will determine the "cut off date"?
Who will sort through it all and "rub them out"?
Volunteering Jonno?
There is a lot to sort through, unless someone writes a filter program.
But it is a waist to see the number of one night stands, who still hold a registered name.
Although it can make the site look impressive, with all the registered members.

The Admins have the tools (embedded in the board) to go through the members list and clean the non functioning members off the board. it is as simple as selecting a few parameters and hitting ok.
I remember, as Jonno has said, getting an email from a board (wares not porn Alex, Paul and anyone else with a gutter mind ) a while ago telling me that all inactive members would be erased from the board.
The deleted members posts and threads would still be on the board but would come up as guest, banned or what ever parameter was selected by the Admin.
