How do you set a hyperlink that doesn't just show the address ? Ie says click here or something, I've tried to edit the text but it takes me to an Oops broken link blah blah (playing with my signature) :-)

1. write the text you want to use as the click through

2. highlight the text you want to use as a link

3. in the formatting options available in the post, click on the insert link tab (little world with a chain in front of it)

4. write in or copy/paste the address link you want to turn into a click through
(you will need to have another window open with the browser running)

5. click ok and you should have your click through link

6. bang head against wall if this doesn't work

select the text you want the link to be, then click the hyperlink icon (globe with chain on it)

For instance:

If you want to check the latest posts, you should click here

1. write the sentence and highlight 'click here'
2. click on the hyper link icon
3. paste your link text in and press ok.

after that you should see this in your post:
If you want to check the latest posts, you should [ URL="www.ausubaru.com.au/search.php?do=getnew"]click here[/URL]

Basically, select the text you want to be the link before you click on 'insert link'.

Hope that helps!

Or you can do it manually, this is how I've always done it.

[url*=www.ausubaru.com]ausubaru home page[/url]

without the * it will display as this:

ausubaru home page

What ever you put in between the initial url= and the /url in square brackets will show up as the link. Just make sure your address is correct otherwise you'll end up sending people to a dead end.

Likewise with images - if you've added them as attachments you can add some coding to have them display in the thread. Very easy to do. It's basically the same as the link coding, the difference is that you don't put an address in the square brackets:

[img*]http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/2705/dsc4693lerd.jpg[/img]

Remove the * and you get your image like this:

Image

If it's an attachment, simply open the image, copy the url and drop it in where the image address is in the above image coding...

I realise that you've worked it out, but I thought I'd share how to do it without using buttons in the text editor ;)

Cheers

How about linking text within posts ?

I forget how, but if you have a heading further down in your text post and a list at the begining, how can you link them ?

P.S. - Also how do you show it with out the under line + add Colour ?

As I've tried a few ways now with no sucess ... :(

URL Hyperlinking
The tag allows you to link to other websit ... [url]value
value
Example Usage http://ausubaru.com.au
AUSubaru.com Forums
Example Output http://ausubaru.com.au
AUSubaru.com Forums

Thread Linking
The [thread] tag allows you to link to threads by specifying the thread id. You can include an optional parameter to 'name' your link.
Usage [thread]threadid[/thread]
[thread=threadid]value[/thread]
Example Usage [thread]42918[/thread]
[thread=42918]Click Me![/thread]
(Note: The threadid/postid is just an example and may not link to a valid thread/post.)
Example Output showthread.php?t=42918
Click Me!

Post Linking
The [post] tag allows you to link to posts by specifying the post id. You can include an optional parameter to 'name' your link.
Usage [post]postid[/post]
[post=postid]value[/post]
Example Usage [post]269302[/post]
[post=269302]Click Me![/post]
(Note: The threadid/postid is just an example and may not link to a valid thread/post.)
Example Output showthread.php?p=269302#post269302
Click Me!

Note : None of the above work for linking title text within a post / thread ... :(

Says the king of spam!

Bantum, to answer your questions about underline and colour etc, you'll find all of that info in the FAQ section of the forum. I would write it all out here but as I don't use it often I don't recall from the top of my head :(

Here's the direct link to bbcode used on this forum ;)

I will have to experiment a little, as I haven't been able to do what I wanted ... :(

Will try various options ... :)

Testing:

Firstly - you need to create an 'anchor' title ... ?

Here is the 'Anchor' title created from main / header list : ( Can be in the same post or thread )

Item One

Second -Then add an identifiyer / or find it's url :

[aname=Item One]Item One[/aname]

Third - Create a 'Main' Title List or header back at start of thread...

Here is an example of a 'header' list :
  • Item One
  • Item Two
Fourth - then you need to add a link in the main title to your newly created 'anchor' with a post ID ... ?

Goto :

[jumpto=aname]Item One[/jumpto]

mm, Not working yet ... :(

Links ...

Refers to Thread beforehand ...

showpost.php?p=205121&postcount=14

Not gettin # title though, doh ... :(

Anchor :

Allows you to insert Anchors into a thread or article so they can be linked to directly from another location.

Create anchors in the following format: [a=anchorname]text[/a] or {a name="TEXT"}TEXT}{/a}

Usage : [a=Option]value[/a]

Example Usage : [a=anchor]Anchor Text[/a]

Example out put : [a=Anchor Text[/anchor]

Then you need this ...

Goto :

Code: [goto={TEXT1}]{TEXT2}[/goto]

Still not working ... :( ( indications are it's not enabled ? )
